I was born in Lawton, Oklahoma to my incredibly hard-working parents who met while stationed in Frankfurt, Germany while serving in the U.S. Army. We moved to Oxnard, California when I was 4 and I lived there until I moved away for college to get a B.S. in Biochemistry and M.S. in Chemistry from CSU Northridge, followed by a Ph.D. in Inorganic Chemistry from UC San Diego. I recently moved back to Oxnard after spending a couple of years working on applied environmental science and biotechnology in San Diego. My focus is on helping people and communities improve themselves and the world we share together by approaching problems with holistic solutions.
I love working with people to make customized solutions to whatever they are trying to tackle. Whether it is applying for grants, or finding unique solutions to your problems by using the latest in science or sustainability, I'm here to help you achieve your goals. Drop me a line and let's start working on your goals today!

It's important to advocate for action on climate change in whatever ways you can, and reaching out to traditional media is a great way to reach audiences that are not online. Read my letter to the editor here where I highlight the importance of this fight while framing it in the context of the wildfires and droughts affecting our area:
In this press release put out by SDSU, the author reviews the Environmental Microbes as a BioEngineering Resource (EMBER) project I worked on for two years. This project focused on using methanotrophs to clean up mining waste and extract rare metals from the waste. Catch me in the video in the link below.

The first large multimillion dollar collaborative grant I had the luck to be a part of, this grant funded researchers at UCSD and two other universities to study melanin across the various species of life on earth. This led to many publications for the various research groups, including two publications that I worked on, one in which I collaborated with the late Nobel Prize winner, Fraser Stoddart.

As part of the GAANN Fellowship through the Department of Education, I was part of a cohort that included some of the best scientific minds at UCSD. Read more about the program below:
